UCCE Volunteer Opportunities
The Sacramento County UC Cooperative Extension recognizes and seeks the unlimited resources and skills of our community members. Our vision clearly identifies volunteers as an integral part of our dynamic group working together to enhance the quality of life and economic capacity in all communities.
Interested community members may apply to become a UC Cooperative Extension Volunteer by completing the online Volunteer Opportunity form or call 916.875.6913. All volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and participate in a general orientation. Volunteers may serve in one or more of the following areas:
Nutrition and Food Safety
- Conduct nutrition sessions for adults (this project is reserved for volunteers who have appropriate experience in this area)
- Conduct nutrition sessions for various youth groups from preschool through high school (this project is reserved for volunteers who have appropriate experience in this area)
- Assist with nutrition summer day camp program for elementary school aged youth
- Assist with program expansion through staff development training, promotion and marketing, investigating grant opportunities
- Develop nutrition/food safety related educational materials, such as posters, games, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, fact sheets, health fair displays, toolkits, etc.
- Participate in the design and implementation of nutrition/food safety program evaluation projects
